At Fresh Coat Studio, every piece begins with potential.

Each project is thoughtful, patient, and personal. Rather than rushing furniture through a production line, I spend time to understand each piece—its craftsmanship, character, and history—before deciding how best to restore or refinish it.

Whether a piece is painted, stained, or carefully preserved, the goal remains the same: to create furniture that is beautiful, functional, and ready to be enjoyed for years to come.

Every piece follows a similar process:

1. Selection & Inspection
I search for solid wood furniture with good bones and inspect it for structural issues, veneer damage, repairs, and previous finishes.

2. Cleaning & Preparation
The piece is thoroughly cleaned and any necessary repairs are planned. Older pieces are tested for lead when appropriate.

3. Repairs & Restoration
Loose joints are stabilized, damaged areas are repaired, veneer issues are addressed, and drawers are adjusted for smooth operation.

4. Surface Preparation
Depending on the project, the piece may be stripped, sanded, stained, painted, or refinished to create a durable foundation for its new finish.

5. Design & Finishing
This is where the personality of the piece comes to life. Paint colors, stains, hardware, decorative details, and signature drawer liners are carefully chosen to complement the furniture's style and character.

6. Protection & Curing
Protective finishes are applied when needed, and the piece is given adequate time to cure for lasting beauty and durability.

I believe vintage and antique solid wood furniture deserves a second life. I enjoy uncovering the character and craftsmanship that make each piece unique and bringing it back to life through thoughtful restoration. Every project is completed with care, respect for its history, and attention to the details that make it special.
